The Veterans Democratic Club of Charles County and Vicinity will meet 10 a.m. at 3385 Metropolitan Church Road, Indian Head. The club’s speaker will be Charles County Commissioners’ President Peter Murphy. Murphy plans to speak on county goals for 2017 and will answer questions from the audience. The 4th and 5th District Democratic Club will meet 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13 at Ledo’s at The Rivah Restaurant on Cobb Island. The speaker will be Commissioners’ President Peter Murphy. The Charles County Board of Appeals meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 14 is cancelled. The next regular meeting of the Board of Appeals is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Charles County Government Building, 200 Baltimore St., La Plata.
Wednesday, Feb. 15
The Charles County Commissioners will hold the February town hall meeting for District 1 at 6 p.m. at the County Government Building, 200 Baltimore St., La Plata. Questions concerning the Watershed Conservation District will not be addressed because it is under review with the Planning Commission. The purpose of commissioner town hall meetings is to take questions from those in attendance and to discuss items of impor- tance to the citizens and the community. Tuesday, March 7
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released the draft plan to designate Mallows Bay in Nanjemoy as a National Marine Sanctuary. A public meeting discussing the draft plan will be held 6-9 p.m. at the Charles County Government Building, 200 Baltimore St., La Plata. Mallows Bay’s designation as a National Marine Sanctuary will be the first for the state of Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The second public meeting will be held 6-9 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at Anne Arundel Community College (101 College Parkway, Arnold). NOAA is holding public meetings and accepting public comments on the draft plans through March 31. To submit comments, go to sanctuaries.noaa.gov/mallows-bay/.
