Aquasco pedes­trian was walk­ing on road­way

Shortly af­ter her re­lease from the Calvert County De­ten­tion Cen­ter Sat- ur­day evening, a Prince Ge­orge’s County woman died af­ter be­ing struck by a truck while walk­ing in Prince Fred­er­ick.

Deputies from the Calvert County Sher­iff’s Of­fice re­sponded to Hal- low­ing Point Road, in the area of Stafford Road, at 6:20 p.m. Satur­day for the re­port of a fa­tal crash in­volv­ing a pedes­trian, a press re­lease from the sher­iff’s of­fice re­ported.

Pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­tiga- tion re­vealed Brenda Lee Hill, 52, of Aquasco was walk­ing on Stafford Road when she en­tered the west­bound lane of Hal- low­ing Point Road. At that time, Hill was struck by a 1994 Dodge Dakota, driv- en by a 28-year-old Prince Fred­er­ick man. Ac­cord­ing to the re­lease, the driver of the truck, who faces no charges at this time, was un­in­jured and re­mained on the scene of the ac­ci­dent.

Capt. David Payne of the sher­iff’s of­fice said au­thor­i­ties are wait­ing for a fol­low-up re­port af­ter re­con­struc­tion is done be­fore re­leas­ing the driver’s iden­tity.

On­line court records show Hill was charged with theft val­ued less than $1,000 Satur­day and is­sued her state­ment of charges. Payne con­firmed she was re­leased from the de­ten­tion cen­ter shortly be­fore the crash.

The sher­iff’s of­fice dis­trib­uted a Nixle alert to the pub­lic at 7:15 p.m., an­nounc­ing the clo­sure of Stafford Road for ac­ci­dent re­con­struc­tion. An­other Nixle alert was sent out at 9:54 p.m., stat­ing the road was re­opened.
