Woman hit by truck dies
Aquasco pedestrian was walking on roadway
Shortly after her release from the Calvert County Detention Center Sat- urday evening, a Prince George’s County woman died after being struck by a truck while walking in Prince Frederick.
Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hal- lowing Point Road, in the area of Stafford Road, at 6:20 p.m. Saturday for the report of a fatal crash involving a pedestrian, a press release from the sheriff’s office reported.
Preliminary investiga- tion revealed Brenda Lee Hill, 52, of Aquasco was walking on Stafford Road when she entered the westbound lane of Hal- lowing Point Road. At that time, Hill was struck by a 1994 Dodge Dakota, driv- en by a 28-year-old Prince Frederick man. According to the release, the driver of the truck, who faces no charges at this time, was uninjured and remained on the scene of the accident.
Capt. David Payne of the sheriff’s office said authorities are waiting for a follow-up report after reconstruction is done before releasing the driver’s identity.
Online court records show Hill was charged with theft valued less than $1,000 Saturday and issued her statement of charges. Payne confirmed she was released from the detention center shortly before the crash.
The sheriff’s office distributed a Nixle alert to the public at 7:15 p.m., announcing the closure of Stafford Road for accident reconstruction. Another Nixle alert was sent out at 9:54 p.m., stating the road was reopened.
The accident remains under the investigation of the Crash Reconstruction Team. Anyone with information on the accident is asked to contact Dfc. J.M. Hardesty at 410-5352800 or firstname.lastname@example.org. md.us.
