SBDC of­fers le­gal, records biz course

The Small Busi­ness De­vel­op­ment Cen­ter of the South­ern Mary­land Re­gion has sched­uled the two-evening “Le­gal and Records Man­age­ment” work­shop for Thurs­day, Feb 23, and Thurs­day, March 2, at the Col­lege of South­ern Mary­land La Plata Cam­pus. Each ses­sion is 5 to 7:30 p.m.

The cost for the work­shop is $80 and is rec­om­mended for all en­trepreneurs and busi­ness own­ers, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease.

The le­gal ses­sion is led by David Martinez, an at­tor­ney with the Jenk­ins Law Firm in La Plata. The class in­cludes in­sights and tips about start­ing busi­nesses, mul­ti­ple own­ers and on­go­ing le­gal­i­ties in the busi­ness world.

Martinez has an ex­ten­sive back­ground in a wide ar­ray of lo­cal busi­nesses and also has han­dled many pre­sen­ta­tions to the Charles County Liquor Board re­lated to liquor li­censes. He has also as­sisted many SBDC clients over the years.

The records man­age­ment ses­sion is led by Tif­fany Davis, owner of Wash­ing­ton Ac­count­ing Ser­vices Inc. in Wal­dorf. The ses­sion in­cludes first­hand in­sights on keep­ing records of ba­sic fi­nan­cial in­for­ma­tion, taxes and fil­ings — the im­por­tance of keep­ing proper fi­nan­cial records. Her firm also pro­vides ser­vices to sev­eral SBDC clients.
