Blue Knights give out awards

The La Plata Blue Knights Youth Foot­ball and Cheer­lead­ing Or­ga­ni­za­tion an­nounced the win­ners of the 2016 La Plata Blue Knight Schol­ar­ship and Blue Knight of the Year Award at their end of sea­son ban­quet on Jan. 11. The La Plata Blue Knight Schol­ar­ship is awarded in the amount of $500 each to one LPBK alumni foot­ball player and one alumni cheer­leader who have been ac­cepted to a col­lege of their choice. The in­di­vid­u­als must main­tain a 3.0 GPA and par­tic­i­pated in a min­i­mum of two full sea­sons with LPBK and demon­strated good ath­leti­cism, great at­ti­tude, and sports­man-like con­duct. This year’s re­cip­i­ents are McKen­zie Swann and Sean St. Clair. The Blue Knight of the Year is awarded to one non-re­turn­ing foot­ball player and cheer­leader who best ex­em­plify what it is to be a Blue Knight. The in­di­vid­u­als must main­tain a 2.75 GPA, par­tic­i­pated in a min­i­mum of four sea­sons with LPBK and demon­strated good ath­leti­cism. The win­ners re­ceive a tro­phy as well as a $50 sav­ings bond. This year’s re­cip­i­ents are Jas­mine Jen­nings and An­gelo Pel­ham.
