Grace Lutheran celebrates Lutheran Schools Week
Highlights include school devotions, Dr. Seuss celebrations
Last week was a busy one at Grace Lutheran School in La Plata, combining cats wearing hats with a cele- bration of the school’s pa- rochial heritage.
March 5-11 was Luther- an Schools Week for the Southeastern District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, the second largest Lutheran denomination in the United States. The Southeastern District in- cludes Maryland (except for Garrett County), Wash- ington D.C., Delaware, Virginia, North and South Car- olina and York County, Pa.
The school celebrated Read Across America concurrent with Lutheran Schools Week. Read Across America is a national initiative by the National Education Association to promote reading, and is usually held around the birthday of Dr. Seuss, also known as Theodore Geisel, author of children’s stories such as “The Cat in the Hat” and “Green Eggs and Ham.”
The week featured readings of many of Dr. Seuss’s works, the eating of green, food colored eggs and a
