Grace Lutheran cel­e­brates Lutheran Schools Week

High­lights in­clude school de­vo­tions, Dr. Seuss cel­e­bra­tions

Last week was a busy one at Grace Lutheran School in La Plata, com­bin­ing cats wear­ing hats with a cele- bra­tion of the school’s pa- rochial her­itage.

March 5-11 was Luther- an Schools Week for the South­east­ern District of the Lutheran Church-Mis­souri Synod, the sec­ond largest Lutheran de­nom­i­na­tion in the United States. The South­east­ern District in- cludes Mary­land (ex­cept for Gar­rett County), Wash- in­g­ton D.C., Delaware, Vir­ginia, North and South Car- olina and York County, Pa.

The school cel­e­brated Read Across Amer­ica con­cur­rent with Lutheran Schools Week. Read Across Amer­ica is a na­tional ini­tia­tive by the Na­tional Ed­u­ca­tion As­so­ci­a­tion to pro­mote read­ing, and is usu­ally held around the birth­day of Dr. Seuss, also known as Theodore Geisel, au­thor of chil­dren’s sto­ries such as “The Cat in the Hat” and “Green Eggs and Ham.”
