Do not make Maryland a ‘sanctuary state’

That the Democrat controlled Mar yland General Assembly House of Delegates would vote to make Maryland a sanctuary state. Disgustingly, Charles County Dels. Sally Jameson (D-Charles) and Edith Patterson (D-Charles) both were primary sponsors of this horrendous bill (HB1362). And our Sen. Thomas “Mac” Middleton (D) was a primary sponsor in the Senate.

Most egregious about the debate on this bill was that House Democrats voted to reject an amendment by Republican Minority Leader Nic Kipke that would have prevented this protection from covering terrorists or felons. Let that sink in…. Dels. Jameson and Patterson sponsored a bill to allow terrorists and felons to be a protected class and prohibit every local and state law enforcement official in Mar yland from responding to any hold, notification, or transfer request for immigration enforcement purposes from any U.S. official at either ICE or Homeland Security.

The bill would also make it a statutory violation for any Maryland official (including, specifically, any employee of a “public secondary school”) to cooperate with ICE or Homeland Security on immigration enforcement efforts. This would even include the “Rockville rapists.”

Don’t we all just feel good about ourselves and so much more secure thanks to the sponsoring of Jameson, Patterson, and Middleton of the “Mar yland Criminal Sanctuary Statute?” Not.

Recent polls show only 35 percent of Americans favor living with a sanctuary city/ county/state, and I doubt if those 35 percent have to deal with living next to any illegals. Honestly, how can we keep electing such out-of-touch politicians?
