Thanks for making La Plata candidate forum a success
Please pardon the Republican Women of Charles County (RWCC) for sounding like we’re handing out Oscar Awards. But we have a lot of people to thank for the resounding success of the La Plata Town Hall Election Forum held April 19, which was reported in the Friday, April 21, issue of the Maryland Independent.
The award for “Set Design” goes to the Holiday Inn for providing the perfect venue for this event. Chick-fil-A receives the “Generosity Award” for helping with the refreshments. “Best Musical Score” goes to Brenda Lowe and Cindy Jones who did a beautiful job, respectively, singing “God Bless the USA” and “God Bless America.” The “Inspirational Award” goes to Deacon Albert Graham who provided the invocation.
All 10 of La Plata’s town candidates receive awards for “Passionate Engagement in Robust Discussion.” They sat in the “hot seat” on stage and provided thoughtful and candid responses to a lot of different questions.
The highest award — “Democracy in Action” — goes to the attendees. The citizens who took time out of their busy lives to get to know the candidates, ask questions and find out what’s happening in the community made the RWCC-sponsored event a success. More importantly, they make our community a better place to live. We have every confidence that they and others will be voting in the May 2 election at the Town Hall in La Plata.
Everyone who assisted, attended and participated in the RWCC-sponsored event are winners. The RWCC, above all, thanks and praises the Almighty Father, with whom we know all things are possible.
