The Charles County Re­cre­ation, Parks, and Tourism in­vites the pub­lic to par­tic­i­pate in Family Fun and Fit­ness Day on Saturday, June 10. On this special day, ad­mis­sion for all six of the community pools will be low­ered to $10 for fam­i­lies of four, and $2 for each ad­di­tional child. Pools will be open noon to 6 p.m.

USDA seeks lo­cal board can­di­dates

Nom­i­na­tions for a po­si­tion on lo­cal United States Depart­ment of Agri­cul­ture (USDA) Farm Ser­vice Agency (FSA) county com­mit­tees are be­ing ac­cepted un­til Aug. 1. FSA county com­mit­tees play a vi­tal and rel­e­vant role in de­liv­er­ing im­por­tant farm pro­grams. Par­tic­i­pa­tion in the elec­tion process is an im­por­tant part of the county committee sys­tem that serves all pro­duc­ers. Nom­i­na­tion forms are avail­able on­line or from the FSA county of­fice, 101 Catalpa Drive, Suite 106A, La Plata, MD 20646. Forms must be post­marked or de­liv­ered to the county of­fice by Aug. 1. Tri-County An­i­mal Shel­ter an­nounces June pro­mo­tions

The Tri-County An­i­mal Shel­ter an­nounces the fol­low­ing June monthly pro­mo­tions and re­minders:

(Thurs­day, June 1- Friday, June 30): Dur­ing this special month, the shel­ter is re­duc­ing the kit­ten adop­tion fees to $50, adult cat fees to $20, and se­nior cats 6 years and over to $5.

(Thurs­day, June 1- Friday, June 30): When you pre­pare for emergencies, re­mem­ber furry friends. In ad­di­tion to a family’s emer­gency kit, have one for pets as well. In the kit, in­clude seven day sup­ply of food and wa­ter, food and wa­ter bowls, ex­tra col­lar, leash, blan­kets, car­rier, med­i­ca­tions, med­i­cal records, re­cent pho­tos of the pet in case the pet be­comes lost, and a first aid kit. Old Line Bank es­tab­lishes STEP-UP schol­ar­ship at CSM

Old Line Bank has cre­ated an an­nual schol­ar­ship to the Col­lege of South­ern Mary­land as part of an $80,000 pledge to the col­lege’s $10 mil­lion Make An Im­pact Cam­paign.

The Old Line Bank STEP-UP Pro­gram An­nual Schol­ar­ship is fo­cused on pro­vid­ing fi­nan­cial need-based schol­ar­ships to stu­dents en­rolled at CSM, with funds avail­able to sup­port de­gree-seek­ing stu­dents as well as work­force train­ing stu­dents.

Old Line Bank has been a strong sup­porter of CSM, pro­vid­ing an an­nual busi­ness pro­gram schol­ar­ship, be­com­ing one of the first ma­jor spon­sors to sup­port the ad­di­tion of the Men’s Lacrosse pro­gram when the pro­gram launched in 2014 and be­ing a sup­porter of the col­lege’s summer per­for­mances and the an­nual golf clas­sic.

The CSM Foun­da­tion has launched a trans­for­ma­tive three-year out­reach and fundrais­ing ef­fort that will cul­mi­nate in 2018 with the col­lege’s 60th an­niver­sary. “Make Your Im­pact: In­vest Today to Trans­form To­mor­row” ad­dresses ac­cess, af­ford­abil­ity and achieve­ment by en­sur­ing that de­gree pro­grams and ca­reer train­ing are avail­able to ev­ery­one through schol­ar­ships, that high cal­iber pro­grams, fa­cil­i­ties and tech­nol­ogy are ac­ces­si­ble, and that strate­gic part­ner­ships and in­no­va­tion are cre­ated and sus­tained in the community.
