Bill Black, 64, of In­dian Head, MD, passed away on Wed­nes­day, May 31, 2017 at Ge­n­e­sis Health­care in LaPlata, MD.

He was born on Au­gust 7, 1952 in Wash­ing­ton, DC. He was the son of the late Betty Walker and the late Pete Walker.

He is sur­vived by his lov­ing son, Billy Black; his sis­ter, Su­san Me­lan­son; his brother-in-law, Ed Me­lan­son; his nephew, Tommy Me­lan­son; his dear friend, Pat Givens; his step-son, Eric Givens; his step-grand­chil­dren: Sa­man­tha Givens; Eric Givens Jr. and his step-great grand­chil­dren: Lon­don, DJ and Kay­den. He was af­fec­tion­ately known as Boo-Boo to his grand­chil­dren and great-grand­chil­dren.

Bill re­tired af­ter work­ing for 43 years in re­tail man­age­ment. He worked for Peo­ples Drug Stores, Hill­crest Sales, Tar­get, Beauty En­ter­prises and re­tired as the Man­ager of the Dol­lar Gen­eral, In­dian Head, in 2012.

He was very in­volved in youth base­ball. He was a for­mer Lit­tle League base­ball man­ager for Tem­ple Hills, Bryans Road and Western Charles Lit­tle Leagues. Bill was also a for­mer Board Mem­ber of the Western Charles Lit­tle League as well as the for­mer As­sis­tant District Ad­min­is­tra­tor of the Mary­land District 7 Lit­tle League.

On Fri­day, June 9, the fam­ily will re­ceive friends at the Wil­liams Fu­neral Home at 5 p.m. un­til time of me­mo­rial service at 5:30 p.m.
