Southern Maryland Links induct new members, honor female veterans
On Sunday, May 20, the ladies of the Southern Maryland Chain Chapter of The Links Incorporated celebrated the 35th anniversary of their chapter’s formation by inducting eight new members.
Held at the Greater Waldorf Jaycees Hall in Waldorf, members gathered together to induct Pamela Cousins, Pamela Crenshaw, Elsie Yvonne Davis, Lori Jennings-Harris, Pamela Reid-Lucas, Lakia D. Pendergrast, Nikia Dane’ Muller and Sharon Turner-Walker into the chapter.
Earlier that month, members hosted the inaugural Ladies Social in celebration of the female residents at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. The goal of the event was to honor female veterans and the widows of veterans for their selfless sacrifice to our nation.
The preliminary event leading to the social was the Veterans Helping Hands Project on May 3, where 181 items were donated to the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. Members ran a very successful drive to collect items such as body wash, deodorant, lotion, mouthwash and shampoo from community supporters: The United States Coast Guard, the Department of Homeland Security, Girl Scouts of the National Capital Region and the Clinton Kappa Chapter of Kappa Epsilon Psi Military Sorority, Inc.
