Ki­wa­nis Club thank­ful for sup­port of Project Grad­u­a­tion

Ki­wa­nis Club of Charles County ex­tends sin­cere thanks to the many busi­nesses and or­ga­ni­za­tions who sup­ported the club’s ef­forts with Project Grad­u­a­tion this year. The event was held at the Col­lege of South­ern Mary­land on June 1, 2 and 3 as a cel­e­bra­tion of the re­cent 2017 high school grad­u­ates. The sup­port­ers con­trib­uted to the suc­cess of the event with do­na­tions of money, food, and time. The many or­ga­ni­za­tions and busi­nesses in­cluded: Burger King, Charles Street Bak­ery, Check­ers, Cir­cus Cir­cus Ice Cream, Dat Jerk Caribbean Char­grill, Deb­bie Car­roll Cakes, Domino’s of La Plata, Ed­u­ca­tional Sys­tems FCU, El­bert’s Ice, Fire­house Subs, Jimmy John’s, Ledo of La Plata, Ledo of Wal­dorf, Lefty’s Bar­beque, Milloff’s, Out­back of Wal­dorf, Pizza Hot­line of La Plata, Pizza Hut of La Plata, Pizza Hut of Wal­dorf, Sam’s Club, Star­bucks of La Plata, Utz Chips, Vo­celli Pizza, and Wal­dorf Lions Club. The Ki­wa­nis Club thanks the sup­port­ers and vol­un­teers for mak­ing a dif­fer­ence in our schools and com­mu­nity.

Ki­wa­nis International is a global or­ga­ni­za­tion of mem­bers ded­i­cated to serv­ing the chil­dren of the world. The Ki­wa­nis Club of Charles County is one of three clubs in Charles County. De­vel­oped un­der the prin­ci­ples of Ki­wa­nis International, the goal of the club is to strive for the prin­ci­ple ob­jects of Ki­wa­nis and strive for a bet­ter qual­ity of life for youth in the county, for the com­mu­nity as a whole, and for the in­di­vid­ual. Club mem­bers have the op­por­tu­nity to par­tic­i­pate in ser­vice projects as a group ef­fort and bond to­gether as a com­mu­nity ser­vice or­ga­ni­za­tion rep­re­sent­ing the

Chil­dren of Charles County. The club has vol­un­teered at sev­eral ac­tiv­i­ties dur­ing the course of the year. Their sig­na­ture project has been Project Grad­u­a­tion for al­most 25 years.

Ki­wa­nis Club of Charles County meets at 6 p.m. on the first Tues­day of the month at The Greene Tur­tle restau­rant in La Plata. Meet­ings in­clude din­ner, fel­low­ship, busi­ness and/or guest speak­ers on a range of top­ics from the school sys­tem to county in­fra­struc­ture. The club in­vites all mem­bers of the com­mu­nity to at­tend one of their meet­ings to learn more about Ki­wa­nis and the Charles County club. The next meeting will be held on Aug. 1.
