Suspects are still at large after an early Monday morning crash that broke down the entrance of a local Walgreens Pharmacy in La Plata in an attempt to rob the store’s ATM.

The Town of La Plata Police Department is currently investigating the crash and attempted robbery that took place at about 2 a.m. June 26 at the Walgreens, located at 6300 Crain Highway in La Plata.

According to Capt. Chris Becker, there was an attempted theft where the suspects tried to gain access to the store’s ATM, but hey were unsuccessful.

“This is still an active investigation and we are asking anyone who was driving on [U.S.] 301 [around that time] with information to come forward,” Becker said. “No employees were present when this incident took place.”

According to police, video from surveillance cameras has been pulled.

The local store manager did not provide any information when asked about the incident.

Police said this appears to be an isolated incident and is asking anyone with information to call the department at 301934-1500.
