Film Fes­ti­val stops in In­dian Head

The Black Box The­atre in In­dian Head will host one of two mini-fests pro­duced by the South­ern Mary­land Film Fes­ti­val (SMFF), mark­ing the de­but movie event for the In­dian Head Cen­ter for the Arts.

The SMFF Steer­ing Com­mit­tee has held large fes­ti­vals in St. Mary’s County the past two years, but opted for two smaller events in 2017 to boost in­ter­est in Calvert and Charles coun­ties for next year’s big event. El­i­gi­ble works have re­lated con­tent to the area, were filmed in one of the three coun­ties or have at least one South­ern Mary­land na­tive or res­i­dent on the film­mak­ing team, ac­cord­ing to SMFF guide­lines.

The the­ater pro­vides a home for lo­cal play­wrights and per­form­ers, of­fer­ing a wide va­ri­ety of act­ing work­shops and lo­cally-pro­duced en­ter­tain­ment. Host­ing the fes­ti­val fits into own­er­ship’s mis­sion to sup­ply a stage to those in­ter­ested in the arts.
