Car club aided veterans home
On June 20, Cruisin’ Southern Maryland for Veterans presented a check for $22,000 to Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. For the sixth year in a row, this group of dedicated car club members planned a 100-mile cruise around the tri-county area with the veterans home as the final destination. Veterans greeted more than 165 classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles again this year, and everyone enjoyed great food, music and camaraderie.
To date, this event has raised more than $82,000 to benefit the residents of Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. Those funds helped upgrade the home’s rehab equipment, provided special activities in and outside the home, and supported a sensory stimulating room for veterans with advanced dementia.
In 2014, the members also came together to build a covered pavilion, valued at more than $50,000, at no cost.
On behalf of the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs and Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, I would like to thank the car club members, sponsors, volunteers and participants who helped make this incredible donation possible. The funds will be used to enhance resident’s daily activities, provide special meals throughout the year, and overall improve their quality of life. Thank you for another wonderful year of support.
