Nom­i­nees for new judge sub­mit­ted

This let­ter was sent to Gov. Larry Ho­gan (R). A copy was sent to the Mary­land In­de­pen­dent.

The Trial Courts Ju­di­cial Nom­i­nat­ing Com­mis­sion for Com­mis­sion Dis­trict 15 met on Thurs­day, June 29, 2017, to con­sider the can­di­dates for the va­cancy on the Cir­cuit Court for Charles County, which be­came ef­fec­tive May 11, 2017, due to the manda­tory re­tire­ment of the Honor­able Thomas R. Simp­son Jr.

Af­ter con­duct­ing ex­ten­sive in­ter­views and re­view­ing all avail­able in­for­ma­tion about the can­di­dates, the Com­mis­sion took a se­cret writ­ten bal­lot. Hav­ing re­ceived the re­quired num­ber of votes, the fol­low­ing in­di­vid­u­als were found to be legally and most fully qual­i­fied for ap­point­ment to the Cir­cuit Court for Charles County: Monise Alexis Brown, Do­nine Marie Car­ring­ton and Makeba Gibbs.

The afore­go­ing nom­i­na­tions are sub­mit­ted pur­suant to your Ex­ec­u­tive Or­der of Feb. 2, 2015.

In ad­di­tion, pur­suant to para­graph D(2) of your Ex­ec­u­tive Or­der, the fol­low­ing in­di­vid­u­als hav­ing been pre­vi­ously nom­i­nated by the Com­mis­sion as legally and fully qual­i­fied for ap­point­ment to the cur­rent va­cancy on that court are also be­fore you for your con­sid­er­a­tion: Pa­trick Joseph Devine and Mistey Lynn Met­z­gar.

In ac­cor­dance with Rule 16-810 (b), ques­tions re­gard­ing sit­ting judges who have ap­plied for court va­can­cies, ei­ther new ap­pli­cants or pool ap­pli­cants, should be di­rect to the Com­mis­sion on Ju­di­cial Dis­abil­i­ties.
