Wil­liam (Bill) Thrift

Bill Thrift, 64, of The Vil­lages, FL (for­merly of Wal­dorf, MD) passed away on June 26, 2017. He worked for UPS and then re­tired from the U.S. Naval Academy 2013. He en­joyed coach­ing and um­pir­ing girl’s softball and served as pres­i­dent of the Wal­dorf Na­tional Lit­tle League.

He is sur­vived by his wife, Kathy; daugh­ters: Car­rie (James); Danielle (Lee) Thrift; brothers: Ray (Car­men) Thrift; John (Sheila) Thrift; and Ken (Shar­lene) Monier.

A Cel­e­bra­tion of Life will be held Sun­day, Au­gust 13th, 2-4 p.m., at the Bryans Road VFD, 3099 Liv­ingston Road, Bryans Road, MD.

Ed­ward Lee Over­ton

Ed­ward Lee Over­ton of Wal­dorf, MD, died on Au­gust 7, 2017. Born on Jan. 27, 1944 in Knoxville, TN, he was the son of the late Kather­ine Green and Robert Over­ton.

Fondly known as “Ed” and “Ed­die”, Mr. Over­ton served in the U.S. Navy dur­ing Viet­nam be­fore be­ing Honor­ably Dis­charged. He then worked for METRO in Wash­ing­ton, DC, and served as a Sta­tion Man­ager. Ed was an avid Wash­ing­ton Red­skins fan and would visit Wal-Mart, Lowe’s and Home De­pot on oc­ca­sion. He was a collector of a va­ri­ety of ar­ti­cles but his great­est joy was be­ing with his grand­chil­dren.

He is sur vived by his wife of 50 years, Char­lene Over­ton; his daugh­ters: Melissa Over­ton; Melinda Ann Drumm and her hus­band Fran­cis; brother, Ray­mond Over­ton; grand­chil­dren: Matthew Long Jr., Kayla Stark, Korey Ham­let, Ai­dan Drumm; one great grand­daugh­ter “on the way”, Meadow.

Ser­vice and in­ter­ment will be held at Pow­ell Val­ley Ceme­tery in La Follett, TN.

He is sur­vived by his com­pan­ion, Vir­ginia Price of La Plata, MD, and his chil­dren: Ge­orge and Sandy She­gogue of Bel Al­ton, MD; Mil­lie Paranich (Ron) of Hun­tersville, NC; Deb­o­rah Allen (Scott) of Lil­lian, AL; Pa­tri­cia Ben­nett (Bob) of Sparks, MD; Vicki Posey (Bernie) of Ma­ri­etta, GA; Rick Aubel (Na­dine) of Con­way, SC; his sis­ter, He­len Fuller­ton of VA; nu­mer­ous grand­chil­dren and great grand­chil­dren.

On Au­gust 1, 2017 of Fort Wash­ing­ton, MD, wife of 56 years, the late Wil­liam Sultzer, sur­viv­ing are three sons: Wil­liam Jr. (Cather­ine); Ti­mothy Sr. (Cher yl); David (Sheila); four grand­chil­dren: Chantel, Francesca, Ti­mothy Jr., Ter­rell; two great-grand­chil­dren: Aliya; Trin­ity; three sib­lings pre­ceded her in death (Lor­raine, Mar­garet “Peggy” and Lil­ian), while one sib­ling re­mains, Jerome Jr. to cher­ish her mem­ory. She leaves a host of nieces, neph­ews, cousins, friends and her As­sump­tion Church Fam­ily to hold dear her memor y.
