A gem in Newburg

My husband and I recently visited a little known Southern Maryland treasure. The Maryland Veterans Museum at Patriot Park is an impressive nonprofit organization that honors veterans from the Revolutionary War to Afghanistan. It is well organized and displays an assortment of interesting memorabilia, most of it donated by servicemen or their families. Various events such as car shows and re-enactments are hosted by the museum. The museum has not been widely publicized so I am sharing our experience to encourage others to check it out. It’s well worth the trip to Newburg at 11000 Crain Highway just south of La Plata. And certainly the Maryland Independent should feature a story about the museum and its accomplishments.
