Indian Head man charged for allegedly sexually abusing a minor
Abuse took place between May, July
An Indian Head man was charged for sexually abusing a minor at least seven times between May and July.
Jeremy James Chenette, 31, of Indian Head was charged with seven counts of sexually abusing a minor, seven counts of third-degree sex offense and child pornography.
On Sept. 9, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Chenette and another adult to report sexual abuse, according to court documents.
Chenette said he had been living at a home in Indian Head, where the victim was also staying. He told police that he performed a sexual act on the victim, who is a minor, along with three other sexual encounters in June, according to court documents.
Det. Higgs talked to the victim and he confirmed that he had been sexually abused by Chenette in the home. The victim told Higgs that Chenette had performed a sexual act on them between five and seven times, and during three of those incidences of abuse, Chenette asked them to engage in sexual activities and the victim complied, according to court documents.
A warrant for Chenette’s arrest was documented on Sept. 10 and his bond was set at $10,000.
Chenette’s case was forwarded to Charles County Circuit Court on Oct. 10. He is scheduled for an initial appearance in court on Nov. 3, per court documentation.
