County run­ners shine at Bull Run

The Bull Run In­vi­ta­tional, one of the top cross coun­try events dur­ing the fall sea­son, re­turned to Here­ford High School in Park­ton on Satur­day.

Charles County run­ners per­formed well at the event as North Point com­peted in the large school com­pe­ti­tion and La Plata in the small school com­pe­ti­tion.

The North Point boys placed sev­enth over­all with 230 points. Sopho­more Joshua Doughty was the first Ea­gles run­ner to cross the fin­ish line, tak­ing 28th over­all in 18 min­utes 4.7 sec­onds with ju­nior team­mate De­vion Bryant close be­hind in 32nd (18:26.9).

Howard was the team win­ner with 58 points with se­nior Alex Straw­ley win­ning the race in 16:38.7.

The North Point girls were 14th over­all with 339 points. Se­nior Mya Riven­burg was the first Ea­gles run­ner to cross the fin­ish line in the race, fin­ish­ing 29th in a time of 22:34.4.

Woot­ton of Mont­gomery County was the team win­ner with 66 points with An­napo­lis se­nior Anna Cof­fin win­ning the race in 19:21.2. Leonard­town’s Nelle Ray was sec­ond (19:25.4).

La Plata’s boys were 10th over­all in their event, scor­ing 294 points. Ju­nior Tyler Con­nolly was the first Warriors run­ner to fin­ish, tak­ing 22nd over­all in 18:12.5.

South Car­roll was the team win­ner with 77 points with Boons­boro se­nior Henry Sch­midt win­ning the race in 16:27.8.

La Plata’s girls were 14th over­all with 398 points. Sopho­more Maya Stevens was 65th over­all in 25:38.0.

Boons­boro of Wash­ing­ton County was the team win­ner with 69 points with South Car­roll sopho­more Danielle Fir­lie win­ning the race in 20:42.7.
