Self-taught quilter speaking at guild

Self-taught quilter Mel Beach is the guest speaker at this month’s meeting of the Valley Quilt Guild.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Caltrans building, 703 B St., Marysville. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.

Beach enjoys creating modern, bold and fun quilts and is drawn to quilt challenges on all levels. Many of her works have been juried into large exhibits. Joint Unified School District Education Foundation.

The Mafia murder mystery is at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 29 at the Allyn Scott Youth and Community center, 1830 B St., Marysville. Tickets are $25 per person. The non-profit foundation supports a myriad of special academic and extracurricular needs benefiting students.
