Dark com­edy is set in Yuba County

Yuba County is mak­ing news in Hol­ly­wood.

“Break­ing News in Yuba County” is a dark com­edy film by di­rec­tor Tate Tay­lor and is slated to star Laura Dern and Al­li­son Jan­ney. The screen­play was writ­ten by Amanda Idoko and ended up on the 2017 Black List of best un-pro­duced screen­plays, ac­cord­ing to a Va­ri­ety mag­a­zine story.

The movie re­port­edly will go into pro­duc­tion in mid-2019.

“Since its a movie that men­tions Yuba County by name, we’re in­ter­ested,” said Russ Brown, Yuba County’s pu­bic in­for­ma­tion of­fi­cer. “There’s no such thing as bad pub­lic­ity since we heard it was a dark com­edy.”

Ac­cord­ing to a de­scrip­tion in the mag­a­zine, “Jan­ney will por­tray a pen­cil pusher who catches her hus­band cheat­ing with an­other woman, which causes him to die of a heart at­tack. She buries his body and takes ad­van­tage of the grow­ing celebrity sta­tus that comes from hav­ing a miss­ing hus­band – but finds her­self in over her head,
