In the mid-1980s, he was owner/operator of the Delaware County Livestock Auction, south of Grove.

He loved the Lord, his family and country life. Throughout the years he enjoyed Cardinal baseball, wolf hunting, calf roping, team roping, western movies, and spending time on the creek with his family and friends. He was a member of Butler Baptist Church, and he loved gospel music and area singings.
