Goodman Sewage Pump Breaks

NEW PUMP WILL COST NEARLY $6,000

- Rita Greene

The sewage pump at Goodman’s southwest lift station stopped working recently and it cannot be rebuilt.

Goodman city supervisor David Brodie told the City Council Tuesday that the cost to purchase a sewage pump is $5,260.

Brodie said it will take about four weeks to get a new pump. The council approved the purchase.

Assistant city clerk Karla McNorton noted that Sam Boblett, who had requested a zoning change from single-family to two-family housing on North School Street, in order to build three small duplexes on the property, paid the required $50 for the ad in the paper 15 days prior to the public hearing regarding the rezoning.

Police officer John Winn said complaints have been received about people playing Pokemon Go in areas of the city. The council said it may be necessary to monitor this and install signs in the areas where this is not permissible.

Winn noted to the council that panels for protective apparel are needed for the police officers. He said he will provide the cost at the next meeting.

The council discussed the annual city staff barbecue, which will be Sept. 25.

Bills including transfers from Aug. 16, 2016, were discussed and approved in the amount of $16,325.88.
