McDonald County Junior High Team Tops Providence Academy

The McDonald County junior high school baseball team opened its 2017 season with an 8-7 win over Providence Academy of Rogers, Ark.

Levi Helm started on the mound for McDonald County and went the first three and a third innings, allowing three hits and three earned runs. Reliever Logan Renner picked up the win despite allowing four runs in two-thirds of an inning before Logan Harriman pitched a scoreless fifth to get the save.

The Mustangs were led at the plate by Trent Alik, with three hits and three runs scored. Helm went two for three while Renner, Harriman, Matthew Mora and Cole Martin all had one hit each.

In the B game, Providence Academy claimed a 13-4 win, with Colton Ruddick taking the loss on the mound for McDonald County.

Jackson Clarkson had two hits, while Brandon Armstrong and Kaiden Campbell each had one hit.

McDonald County’s next game is set for March 24 at Grove. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
