Jesse James Days Comes To Town This Week

McDon­ald County neigh­bors are en­joy­ing a va­ri­ety of ac­tiv­i­ties this week as Jesse James Days come to town. A pageant for young­sters, en­ter­tain­ment, a 5k and 10k run/walk and 13-mile bike ride, and a pa­rade, are just some of the fun-filled events tak­ing place this week. A pageant for young­sters, en­ter­tain­ment, a 5k and 10k run/ walk and 13-mile bike ride, and a pa­rade, are just some of the fun-filled events tak­ing place this week.

Pro­ceeds from Jesse James Days ben­e­fit the Pineville Fire De­part­ment.

Jesse James Days — which kicked off Wed­nes­day, Aug. 9 — will con­tinue through Satur­day, Aug. 12, on the Pineville Square.

Each night of the Jesse James Days fea­tures live en­ter­tain­ment, as well as car­ni­val rides and a Fris­bee throw­ing con­test for youth up to age 12.

For bingo en­thu­si­asts, the Pineville/Jane Ball Pro­gram will host bingo again this year.

On Thurs­day, boys and girls will vie for hon­ors in the Jesse James Pageant, which will take place at 6 p.m.

The Pineville fire­fight­ers will of­fer a de­li­cious, fresh lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Fri­day at the Pineville Square. Fire­fight­ers will pro­vide ev­ery­thing from ham­burg­ers, na­chos, pulled pork sand­wiches to fun­nel cakes, big pick­les, drinks and much more, all at rea­son­able prices. Or­ders may be called in to 223-1200. De­liv­ery is avail­able and credit and debit cards are ac­cepted.

Other events in­clude a pie auc­tion, which will be­gin at 8 p.m. Fri­day and Satur­day night, a pa­rade Satur­day night, and a bar­be­cue chicken din­ner at the Com­mu­nity Cen­ter, fol­low­ing the pa­rade.

Free live en­ter­tain­ment will in­clude RedWolf per­form­ing on Thurs­day night, with Lickitty Split on Fri­day night and Flash­back on Satur­day night.

Car­ni­val rides open at 6 p.m. each night. Arm bands are be­ing sold for $20 each. Each arm band can be uti­lized for one night only, but can be used any night the buyer would like.

On Satur­day morn­ing, those who would like to sup­port the Pineville Fire De­part­ment and McDon­ald County 4 Kids can walk, run or bike as part of the Run­ning With The Out­laws event.

Packet pickup is from noon to 4 p.m. Fri­day, Aug. 11, with Satur­day morn­ing as the fi­nal pickup time. Packet pickup that morn­ing is from 6 to 6:30 a.m. at the Pineville Square. Paper reg­is­tra­tion closes at 6:30 a.m. Satur­day morn­ing. Paper forms are avail­able at City Hall. Of­fi­cials are also sell­ing chances for a 2004 Ford Mus­tang 40th An­niver­sary Edi­tion. All taxes are pre­paid so the win­ner isn’t re­quired to pay them. Chances are $1 each or six for $5.

Tick­ets are avail­able at City Hall and from any Pineville fire­fighter. All pro­ceeds will ben­e­fit the Pineville Fire De­part­ment.

The car will be given away at 9 p.m. Aug. 12.
