Cross Coun­try Run­ners Race In Ray-Pec

David Lazalde fin­ished in 73rd place and Alex Guadar­rama was 78th to lead the McDon­ald County High School boys’ cross coun­try team at the sea­son-open­ing Ray­more-Pe­cu­liar XC In­vi­ta­tional on Sept. 9.

Lazalde cov­ered the 5000 me­ter (3.1 mile) course in a time of 18:27.8 while Guadar­rama fin­ished in 18:40.3.

Ryan Flood led Lib­erty High School to the team ti­tle in the boys’ race with a time of 16:19.3.

Round­ing out McDon­ald County re­sults were Gar­rett Spears, 100th, 19:24.3; Jackson Behm, 107th, 19:51.8 and Tyler Moritz, 124th, 21:02.3.

McDon­ald County fin­ished in 16th place out of 19 schools in the team com­pe­ti­tion.


Sopho­more Addy Mick led the Lady Mus­tangs re­sults with a 62nd place fin­ish in 22:32.3. Other McDon­ald County re­sults were Brook­lyn Win­ters, 101st, 24:55.6; Natalie Staib, 102nd, 24:56.7; An­drea Crea­son, 115th, 28:16.4; and Is­tar­lin Aden, 118th, 31:12.2.

Made­lynn Hill gave Lib­erty High School a sweep of the in­di­vid­ual cham­pi­onships by win­ning the girls’ divi­sion in a time of 18:33.8.

Lee’s Sum­mit West won the girls team ti­tle while McDon­ald County was 16th.

McDon­ald County’s next race is the South­ern Stam­pede on Sept. 16 at Mis­souri South­ern State Univer­sity in Jo­plin.
