Nov. 16, 1935 Nov. 4, 2017 Billy Joe Gideon, 81, of Webb City,
Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, in the comfort of his residence after a recent battle with cancer. He was born
Nov. 16, 1935, in Anderson, Mo., the youngest of 10 children, to the late William Andrew and Florence (Russell) Gideon.
He was raised and attended school in Anderson. He was united in marriage to Grace Scott on Oct. 26, 1956, in Neosho, Mo., and to this union, three children were born.
He was employed by Eagle Picher in Joplin, Mo., for 20 years. He retired in 1998 from the Department of Defense. He was a member of the Blendville Christian Church in Joplin and the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Grace Gideon, of the home; three children, Dennis W. Gideon (Glinda) of Augusta, Kan., Janice Runion (Larry) of Webb City, Mo., and Steven R. Gideon (Mary) of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Gideon (Dottie) of Cleveland, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at the Tracy Cemetery in Anderson, with Pastor Luke Cole officiating. The family received friends on Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. in the Chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin.
