Mo., died Satur­day, Nov. 4, 2017, in the com­fort of his res­i­dence after a re­cent bat­tle with can­cer. He was born

Nov. 16, 1935, in An­der­son, Mo., the youngest of 10 chil­dren, to the late Wil­liam An­drew and Florence (Rus­sell) Gideon.

He was raised and at­tended school in An­der­son. He was united in mar­riage to Grace Scott on Oct. 26, 1956, in Neosho, Mo., and to this union, three chil­dren were born.

He was em­ployed by Ea­gle Picher in Jo­plin, Mo., for 20 years. He re­tired in 1998 from the Depart­ment of De­fense. He was a mem­ber of the Blendville Chris­tian Church in Jo­plin and the Ma­sonic Lodge.

He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents and eight sib­lings.

Sur­vivors in­clude his wife of 61 years, Grace Gideon, of the home; three chil­dren, Den­nis W. Gideon (Glinda) of Au­gusta, Kan., Jan­ice Ru­nion (Larry) of Webb City, Mo., and Steven R. Gideon (Mary) of Al­ta­monte Springs, Fla.; seven grand­chil­dren; eight great-grand­chil­dren; a brother, Elmer Gideon (Dot­tie) of Cleve­land, Ohio; sev­eral nieces and neph­ews; and a host of other fam­ily and friends.

Grave­side ser­vices are at 1 p.m. Thurs­day, Nov. 9, 2017, at the Tracy Ceme­tery in An­der­son, with Pas­tor Luke Cole of­fi­ci­at­ing. The fam­ily re­ceived friends on Wed­nes­day evening from 6-7 p.m. in the Chapel of Thorn­hill-Dil­lon Mor­tu­ary in Jo­plin.
