Stu­dent Art Show To Be Held In McDon­ald County

The com­mu­ni­ties of the Big 8 share an on­go­ing vi­sion that art ed­u­ca­tion is a cru­cial com­po­nent of a thriv­ing and pro­duc­tive so­ci­ety.

McDon­ald County School Dis­trict will be host­ing an art ex­hi­bi­tion for the first time since join­ing the Big 8. Big 8 schools in­clude Monett, Cassville, La­mar, Mount Ver­non, Au­rora, Seneca and McDon­ald County.

This in­cred­i­ble event will fea­ture the art­work of more than 1,000 lo­cal stu­dents in the Big 8 dis­trict. There will be more than 2,000 works of var­i­ous me­dia and sub­ject mat­ter on dis­play rep­re­sent­ing the cre­ative artis­tic tal­ents of six­thto eighth-grade stu­dents.

Numer­ous art awards will be given out for stu­dent artis­tic tal­ent and orig­i­nal­ity.

The ex­hi­bi­tion will take place at McDon­ald County High School’s smaller gym from 9 a.m. un­til noon on Satur­day, April 21. The event will be free and open to the pub­lic. In ad­di­tion, McDon­ald County’s “Art on the Van Gogh” Bus will be on ex­hibit with high school art stu­dents serv­ing free re­fresh­ments pro­vided by OPAA. These stu­dents will also be of­fer­ing face paint­ing to all who are in­ter­ested in sup­port­ing the McDon­ald County High School Art Club.

“We hope lo­cals can come sup­port our tal­ented sixth- to eighth-grade stu­dents and en­joy view­ing some amaz­ing art­work!” said Hu­ber.
