The McDon­ald County High School soc­cer team jumped out to an 8-0 lead over Thomas Jef­fer­son Academy of Jo­plin be­fore set­tling for a 9-5 win on Sept. 25 at MCHS.

Jeobany Mar­cos put the Mus­tangs ahead 1-0 in the sev­enth minute of the match on McDon­ald County’s first shot of the match. Eh Doh Say made it 2-0 less than 10 min­utes later be­fore Kaw Htoo fol­lowed with a goal just two min­utes later to make it 3-0.

Say and Mar­cos got their sec­ond goals late in the first half to give McDon­ald County a 5-0 lead at half­time.

McDon­ald County’s Ir­rael Mar­cos scored to start the sec­ond be­fore Car­los Mar­cos and Malachi Smith added goals to stretch the lead to 8-0 mid­way through the sec­ond half.

Thomas Jef­fer­son got on the board with 19 min­utes left in the match on the first of four goals by Thomas Her­shewe. Her­shewe added goals at the 17th, 13th and 11th minute be­fore McDon­ald County’s Esta­ban De La Torre an­swered with an in­sur­ance goal with nine min­utes left.

Thomas Jef­fer­son’s An­drew Lewis capped the scor­ing with a minute to go to make the fi­nal score 9-5.

McDon­ald County was 3-6-1 head­ing into its Oct. 2 match against Cassville at MCHS. The Mus­tangs travel to Aurora on Oct. 4. Kick­off is at 4:30 p.m.

Neosho

The Neosho Wild­cats jumped out to a 2-1 half­time lead and held on in the sec­ond half to claim a 2-1 win on Sept. 27 at McDon­ald County High School.

McDon­ald County’s lone goal came off the foot of Jeobany Mar­cos mid­way through the sec­ond half.
