Cross Coun­try Makes Good Show­ing

Gar­rett Spears led the McDon­ald County High School cross coun­try team to a sixth-place fin­ish at the Ne­vada Cross Coun­try In­vi­ta­tional held Sept. 29 in Ne­vada.

Spears fin­ished in 11th place in a time of 17:30, while team­mates Jack­son Behm and Bryce Ber­ry­hill also cracked the top 20. Behm was 17th in 18:03, and Ber­ry­hill was 18th in 18:04.

Round­ing out the McDon­ald County re­sults were Tyler Moritz, 61st, 21:25; Eli Jack­son, 62nd, 21:34; Justin Smith, 63rd, 21:36; Gar­rett An­der­son, 71st, 22:25; Ryan King, 74th, 22:42; and Matthew McCall, 91st, 29:17.

Fresh­man Dae­len Ack­ley of El Do­rado Springs won the boys’ race in a time of 16:13.

Neosho claimed the boys’ team ti­tle, with El Do­rado Springs in sec­ond fol­lowed by Wil­lard, Lib­eral, Ne­vada, McDon­ald County, McAuley Catholic and But­ler.

Girls’ Divi­sion

Ka­lyn Stetina led the Lady Mus­tangs with an eighth­place fin­ish (22:01), while team­mate Natalie Staib also fin­ished in the top 10, tak­ing 10th in 22:09.

Brook­lyn Win­ters was next for McDon­ald County, tak­ing 20th in 23:16, while Addy Mick was 27th in 23:57 to round out the Lady Mus­tang re­sults.

Calli Beshore was the girls’ win­ner with a time of 18:52.

McDon­ald County did not field a full girls’ team, so it wasn’t a fac­tor in the team com­pe­ti­tion. Ne­vada won the girls’ team ti­tle, fol­lowed by El Do­rado Springs, Lib­eral, Wil­lard and But­ler.

McDon­ald County’s next race is at Cassville on Oct. 4. Start­ing time was not yet de­ter­mined.
