Stone rolls 300 on way to win­ning in the A Di­vi­sion of 500 Club’s No-Tap tour­ney

LaDonna Stone took first place in dra­matic fash­ion in the A Di­vi­sion of the Merced/At­wa­ter Women's 500 Club is

46th Annual In­vi­ta­tional No-Tap Tour­na­ment on Oct. 28.

In her fi­nal game, Stone rolled a 300 to de­feat Joyce He­bert by 10 pins with a fi­nal score of 859 to 849. The A di­vi­sion saw 14 women com­pet­ing.

Stone took home a cash prize of $159, He­bert $36, and Mary Ksen­zu­lak came in third with an 829 for $35.

In the B di­vi­sion there were 17 par­tic­i­pants and the 500 Club's pres­i­dent De­bra Tala­ferro took first place with an 863 for her cash prize of $171. Tak­ing se­cond was Merced's Marie Her­rera with a 844 for $56, and in third was Verna Fel­low with a 832 for $43.

In the C di­vi­sion, a to­tal of 21 ladies rolled and it paid down four places. Tak­ing first was Donna Pote with an 820 for $167, com­ing in se­cond was Jutta Webb with a 785 for $57, in third was He­len NcNitt with a 752 for $46, and in the fourth and fi­nal spot was Gerry Jack­son rolling a 729 for $40.

All the first place win­ners had an ex­tra $100 added to their win­nings by the the Delta Sierra Bev­er­age Com­pany of Modesto as they have done in the last three years. This tour­na­ment has to be one of the top 500 club tour­na­ment in the Val­ley for their prize fund and gifts given out dur­ing the day.


The Belle­vue Bowl teams set the pace in the annual Sum­mer Ju­bilee held at the Na­tional Bowl­ing Sta­dium in Reno with sev­eral cash­ing. Teams plac­ing, to­tal scores, and prize money won are listed: In 14h was Sean Ku­cius, Leti­cia An­drade, Jesse An­drade, and Ray Gong with 2,673 for $400.

In 18th was Lance Ol­len­borger, Mer­ril Sny­der, Dave King, and Mike Coe with 2,673 for $300.

In 30th was Matt Stout, An­drea Aguilar, Darryl Kawaaka, and Jeff Stout with 3,638 for $250. In 36th was Ash­ley De­hart, Bradley De­hart, Adam Far­ris, and Mike Danel 2,615 for $220. In 56th was Char Jolly, Anita Robert, Danny Robert, and Haj Ba­gri 2,575 for $210, and in 64th was Larry Valenti Sr., Es­ther Plan­til­las, Ron Gon­za­les, and Larry Valenti Jr. with 2,560 for $200.


The Nor-Cal B.C. had the fol­low­ing bowlers win­ning dur­ing the Alibi Dou­bles as Terry Dvo­rak and Tosh Ka­jioka placed in 18th with a 990 se­ries for $80. They were the only lo­cal pair to place.

T.J. Rowen placed third in the high game pot in the third game for a few bucks. Bob Heller placed in the first high game pot with a 278 and took se­cond in the men's over­all se­ries.

Up next for us no-tap­pers will be at McHenry Bowl on Fri­day, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. with their annual Tur­key Shoot. You never know, you might win a bird for Thanks­giv­ing.


The Madera-Chowchilla Women's 500 Club is host­ing a Vet­eran's Day fundraiser for lo­cal veterans on Satur­day, Nov. 18 start­ing at 1 p.m.

En­try fee is $25 and they will have a 50/50 raf­fle, a lotto hat, and great door prizes. It's a no-tap tour­na­ment fea­tur­ing 9-pin no-tap, 3-6-9 strikes, and an 8-pin no­tap. It sounds like fun and they al­ways have a great turnout. It's short drive to Madera.
