Hyde Park man slashed kids, say police
Bail has been set at $100,000 for the Hyde Park man accused of stabbing three children on Saturday, according to the Suffolk district attorney’s office.
Rock Aurelian, 51, was charged Monday in West Roxbury Municipal Court with three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed assault with intent to murder after he allegedly slashed a 15-year-old girl and two boys, 9 and 11, with a knife. The children were treated with non-lifethreatening injuries. He was described by investigators as a family friend.
The attack was reported when blood-soaked children ran down River Street to a neighbor’s house and then to a corner store, screaming for help, The Boston Globe reported.
The girl had been stabbed multiple times in the arm. A pool of blood stained the street on the 1600 block of River Street, and a bloody trail led to a neighbor’s house.
The children were described as confused and in shock, according to the report. The neighbor dialed 911, but the children were inconsolable and kept screaming that the man might still be after them. The children kept running, and the 12-year-old boy ran down the block to the corner store. According to witnesses, the boy screamed “save my life,” while the other two children remained outside. A customer called 911 and the three were taken to the hospital.
Aurelian admitted his involvement in the attack, according to the DA.
He is due back in court July 28.
