Fentanyl was approved by the FDA for injections in 1968.

A .1 milligram dose of fentanyl is as strong as 10mg of morphine. The DEA declared a surge in fentanyl-laced heroin deaths in March, 2015. Bay State officials are starting to regard opiate addiction as a health crisis instead of criminal behavior. The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency issued a warning about the potential lifethreatening exposure to the fentanyl patches used to relieve extreme pain and are in need of around-theclock comfort.
