We’ll be hon­est: The first time we saw Sut­ton Foster’s play­fully mod­ern Up­per West Side home, we were a tad dis­tracted by jeal­ousy. (That view! That pink couch!) But when we took a sec­ond look at the twotime Tony Award winner’s pad, we were ready to take notes and do some re­dec­o­rat­ing of our own. Luck­ily, in­te­rior de­signer Mike Har­ri­son — who teamed up with HomeGoods to makeover the pent­house — was happy to spill some of his se­crets.

Have a color strat­egy

Foster’s home is brim­ming with bold color, but it’s not the first thing you no­tice. Tak­ing a cue from her beloved hot pink state­ment couch, Har­ri­son dot­ted the liv­ing room with ac­cents of lime and teal to con­tinue the color story with­out over­whelm­ing the eye. “I wanted it to be whim­si­cal, but still so­phis­ti­cated,” he says. “Strong color is like light­ing — you want to bring it into ev­ery corner of the room.”
