We’ll be honest: The first time we saw Sutton Foster’s playfully modern Upper West Side home, we were a tad distracted by jealousy. (That view! That pink couch!) But when we took a second look at the twotime Tony Award winner’s pad, we were ready to take notes and do some redecorating of our own. Luckily, interior designer Mike Harrison — who teamed up with HomeGoods to makeover the penthouse — was happy to spill some of his secrets.
Have a color strategy
Foster’s home is brimming with bold color, but it’s not the first thing you notice. Taking a cue from her beloved hot pink statement couch, Harrison dotted the living room with accents of lime and teal to continue the color story without overwhelming the eye. “I wanted it to be whimsical, but still sophisticated,” he says. “Strong color is like lighting — you want to bring it into every corner of the room.”
