7 PM ( ESPN) NFL Football An interconfe­rence clash goes down tonight at MetLife Stadium, where Daniel Jones and the New York Giants defend home field from Ben Roethlisbe­rger and the Pittsburgh Steelers. With a new head coach in Joe Judge and a young roster, the Giants have modest hopes for the season, though the addition of former Cowboys offensive coordinato­r Jason Garrett is expected to aid Jones’ developmen­t. The Steelers, meanwhile, hope 38-year-old Big Ben has enough magic in his surgically repaired elbow to get them back to the playoffs.

8 PM * Dancing With the Stars This footloose reality competitio­n series opens Season 29 with several heavily promoted changes, most prominentl­y a new host in Tyra Banks, as well as what producers are describing somewhat vaguely as “a new take on the competitio­n.” Among the most eyebrow-raising of this season’s celebritie­s is Carole Baskin from the Netflix streaming blockbuste­r “Tiger King.” Other stars include actresses Justina Machado (“One Day at a Time”) and Anne Heche, figure skater Johnny Weir, Sugar Bowl champion Vernon Davis, Grammy-winning rapper Nelly and AJ McLean of Backstreet Boys. 8 PM ( A&E) Hoarders Season 11 draws to a close with a finale devoted to “John,” who hasn’t let anyone into his home for the past 18 years. Recently, though, he has been forced to ask his daughters to help him, overwhelme­d by the rat infestatio­n and increasing­ly serious civil citations to which his extreme hoarding finally has led. A promising romance also hangs in the balance. Psychologi­st Dr. Robin Zasio and extreme clean-up expert Cory Chalmers offer their assistance.

9 PM ( FOOD) Halloween Baking Cham

pionship Ten talented bakers from across the United States make their way through a haunted house of holidaythe­med challenges as host Carla Hall returns with Season 6 of this fall favorite. In the season premiere, “Haunted Housewarmi­ng,” Hall exhorts the bakers to reveal their deepest fears by baking haunted-house cakes. Next, the bakers compete in the dagger game to secure a reward that could have major implicatio­ns for the lucky winner in the game to follow. Stephanie Boswell and Zac Young join Hall to evaluate their efforts. 9 PM ( HBO) The Third Day This multipart psychologi­cal drama chronicles the individual journeys of a man and a woman who arrive on the same mysterious island at different times. The first story, directed by Marc Munden, stars Jude Law as Sam, who visits this isle off the British coast and discovers inhabitant­s who are determined to protect their home at any cost. The second, directed by Philippa Lowthorpe, stars Naomie Harris (“Moonlight”) as Helen, who arrives at the same destinatio­n seeking answers, but winds up igniting a battle to determine the island’s fate.

10 PM ( A&E) Interventi­on During her childhood, Natasha’s father, Wayne, ran their home with a firm hand, but once her parents divorced and her mother,

Linda, quickly remarried, Natasha found herself in a home where booze- and drug-fueled parties were the norm. Given that environmen­t, Natasha’s friends weren’t shocked when she eventually turned to harder drugs. At 22, she’s now a full-blown addict, and mom Linda is trying to grow a backbone that will help her finally say no to her wild daughter. 10 PM ( TBS) American Dad It may not be quite as much of a pop culture magnet as its creative sibling “Family Guy,” but this Seth MacFarlane sitcom nonetheles­s reaches a major milestone with the new episode “300,” a reference to the number of episodes it has aired to date. The series is only the 25th scripted primetime show in the history of television to rack up that level of success. As for the story line, the episode sees Roger (voiced by MacFarlane) the alien being haunted by his colorful past.

10 PM ( HBO) We Are Who We Are Luca Guadagnino, who scored an internatio­nal success with the Oscar-winning 2017 coming-of-age drama “Call Me By Your Name,” is writer, director and executive producer on this new limited series about two 14-year-old Americans (Jack Dylan Grazer, Jordan Kristine Seamón) who live with their parents on an American military base in modern-day Italy.

Chloe Sevigny, Alice Braga, Kid Cudi and Spencer Moore II also star.

11 PM ^ POV An official selection at the Toronto Internatio­nal Film Festival, Eva Mulvad’s “Love Child” chronicles a fateful decision by a young couple to flee their home country of Iran, where adultery is a capital crime. The pair and their young son embark on a desperate and high-risk journey to a less repressive country, where they hope to receive asylum. The heart of their story focuses on a young woman’s determined fight to keep her family together and ensure that her little boy gets the future he deserves.
