8 PM _ The Masked Singer

Season 4 doesn’t kick off officially until Sept. 23, but Fox offers the show’s legion of fans a sneak peek tonight in this new onehour special. Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy all return as the show’s panel of “celebrity detectives” tasked with unmasking the ornately costumed mystery performers. This season’s singing characters include The Gremlin, The Snow Owl, The Crocodile, The Giraffe and The Broccoli, among others. Nick Cannon returns as host.

8:30 PM (SHO) Our Cartoon President

American politics have become so surreal that it’s often hard to differentiate between reality and parody, which poses a challenge to this animated satirical comedy as it resumes Season 3 with new episodes leading up to the presidential election in November. Among the story lines for the cartoon counterparts this season, Eric and Don Trump Jr. team up with Elon Musk and MyPillow founder Mike Lindell to attempt a coronavirus cure, and Sen. Susan Collins dodges reporters by running off to Maine with Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

9 PM ^ Van der Valk on Masterpiece

Marc Warren (“Beecham House”) stars as world-weary Amsterdam detective Piet van der Valk in three new mystery yarns drawn from Nicolas Freeling’s literary crime thrillers. In the first, “Love in Amsterdam,” Piet’s favorite Vermeer painting may hold a vital key to two murders and a suspected kidnapping. The case, which mingles art, politics and personal passion, puts Piet’s eager new assistant, Job Cloovers (Elliot Barnes-Worrell), through a real baptism of fire. Maimie McCoy and Luke Allen-Gale co-star; Emma Fielding and Darrell D’Silva appear in recurring roles.

10 PM (TRAV) The Osbournes Want to Believe

Jack makes Sharon and Ozzy start to question their sense of reality with footage of a levitating girl and full-body apparitions caught on government cameras in the new episode “See You on the Other Side.” The family trio also watches some disconcertingly convincing video evidence of UFOs, creepy dolls and some of dad Ozzy’s favorite: poltergeists.
