Mush­rooms Star In Maka’s Pork Chops

In the kitchen this week we had de­signer and fire­cracker spirit Pua­mana Crabbe. Our show has al­ways been a plat­form for lo­cal peo­ple like Pua­mana to share some clas­sic recipes from Hawai‘i. Her lo­cal spirit was awe­some to have in the kitchen, and she made me feel like we were in her home for some nice com­fort food!

Thi s week, Pua­mana shares a recipe for Maka’s Pork Chops t hat features sautéed gar­lic, mush­rooms and onions. • 2 fresh • 1/2 • 1 clove • 1/4 cup • 1/2 cup •6 fil­lets cut and sliv­ered crushed sliced

In pan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Brown onion and gar­lic in pan. Sear pork on both sides. Re­move fil­lets from pan and set on pa­per tow­els to drain ex­cess fat. Add mush­rooms to pan and sautée un­til golden brown.

In a cup, add wa­ter to corn­starch and stir smooth to form a slurry. Slowly add slurry to pan a lit­tle at a time, stir­ring con­stantly un­til de­sired gravy thick­ness is achieved. Add pork fil­lets back to pan and sim­mer on medium heat un­til ready (15-20 min­utes).
