Mushrooms Star In Maka’s Pork Chops
In the kitchen this week we had designer and firecracker spirit Puamana Crabbe. Our show has always been a platform for local people like Puamana to share some classic recipes from Hawai‘i. Her local spirit was awesome to have in the kitchen, and she made me feel like we were in her home for some nice comfort food!
Thi s week, Puamana shares a recipe for Maka’s Pork Chops t hat features sautéed garlic, mushrooms and onions. • 2 fresh • 1/2 • 1 clove • 1/4 cup • 1/2 cup •6 fillets cut and slivered crushed sliced
In pan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Brown onion and garlic in pan. Sear pork on both sides. Remove fillets from pan and set on paper towels to drain excess fat. Add mushrooms to pan and sautée until golden brown.
In a cup, add water to cornstarch and stir smooth to form a slurry. Slowly add slurry to pan a little at a time, stirring constantly until desired gravy thickness is achieved. Add pork fillets back to pan and simmer on medium heat until ready (15-20 minutes).
