The event features a contest for the best original chocolate recipe, a shuttle tour of the Waialua Estate Cacao Orchard, presentations on cacao’s health benefits from Ola Loa Wellness and tips on making your own chocolate liqueur from Skipp Bittenbender of the UH College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources. Cacao trees will be on sale from the Urban Garden Center, and keiki can decorate Mr. Cacao Heads, have their faces painted and make crowns for themselves as festival royalty.
Judges for the recipe contest include state Rep. Michael Magaoay, radio and TV personality Howard Dicus, freelance food writer Martha Cheng, cookie-man Wally Amos and Hawaii chocolatier Melanie Boudar. Prizes will be awarded for the best Baked Goods, Confections, Savory and
