Literacy Fair Kicks Off Saturday

MidWeek Islander (Central Oahu) - - News -

Ho‘ala School will have a free Literacy Fair and Open House for the public from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at 1067 A California Ave.

The fair is for children of all ages, offering a drama performance by Ho‘ala’s high school students, readings, alphabet pancakes, local storyteller Wally Amos (of cookie fame) and more. The open house will take place in conjunction with the fair.

The fair celebrates the gift of reading and aims to perpetuate it among the youths of Wahiawa and surrounding communities.

The small private school welcomes donations from individuals and businesses to be used for the purchase of books. Its goal is for each child in attendance to receive a free, new book at the end of the day.
