Lions Col­lect School Sup­plies

Wahi­awa Lions Club will col­lect school sup­plies and mon­e­tary do­na­tions on the next three Satur­days for needy young stu­dents at Wahi­awa schools.

The drive is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Satur­day and Aug. 7 at Wahi­awa Shop­ping Cen­ter near Longs, and dur­ing the same hours at Ta­mura’s Mar­ket Satur­day and Aug. 14.

Re­cent data in­di­cates that 44 per­cent of Wahi­awa house­holds don’t make enough in­come to get by, which is why the Wahi­awa Lions is step­ping up to help. Sup­plies needed in­clude No. 2 pen­cils, red and black ball­point pens, three-hole wide-ruled binder paper, port­fo­lios with in­side bot­tom pock­ets, bar and pen­cil-top erasers, glue, paper tow­els, nap­kins, fa­cial tis­sue, liq­uid soap, boxes of eight large, 16 or 24 crayons, Cray­ola col­ored pen­cils and marker sets, wa­ter color paint sets, mar­ble com­po­si­tion books, Sharpie per­ma­nent black mark­ers, yel­low high­lighters, manila fold­ers and scis­sors.

Last year’s drive raised $1,800 and col­lected in 600 pounds of sup­plies.
