Volunteers Needed For Sony Open
Friends of Hawaii Charities seeks volunteers to work the 2010 Sony Open in Hawaii PGA Tour tournament Jan. 11-17, ranging from marshals to drivers, and there’s a fit for everyone — even those who don’t know much about golf.
The PGA Tour tourney signals the launch of fullfield events for this year and has a purse of $5.5 million.
Among the contenders for the $990,000 winner’s prize will be Hawaii’s own Tadd Fujikawa, who is playing on the sponsor’s exemption. (Fujikawa, who will turn 19 just before the tournament starts, made golf history at 2007 Sony Open as the youngest amateur to make the cut in nearly 50 years.)
Monday’s kickoff will feature an 11 a.m. Shotgun Sony Dream Cup Pro-Am; Tuesday offers an all-day Professional Practice Round
