Council Seeking New Face For Djou’s Seat
Want a job? As you may have heard, City Councilman Charles Djou accepted a temporary federal job farther away from his East Oahu base and must be replaced soon by his council colleagues.
Resumes should be turned in by June 1 for consideration.
“There is no legal deadline for nominating a potential candidate,” explained City Council Chairman Todd Apo. “However, by collecting names by June 1, we will have a list of candidates at least a week before the June 9 council meeting. Upon receiving the names, the council will select the successor via resolution, which will require the support of at least five of the remaining members.”
Resumes can be e-mailed to email@example.com or hand-delivered to the council’s Honolulu Hale office. Candidates must live in District IV (Hawaii Kai to Ala Moana), and the term ends Jan. 2. Djou’s term in Congress also ends in January, depending on the state’s general election results in November.
