Hawaii Kai res­i­dents Ul­rike and Toufiq Sid­diqi r ecently gave $60,000 to es­tab­lish a stu­dent travel en­dow­ment at the UH Manoa Shi­dler Col­lege of Busi­ness for s t ud­ies in South and South­east Asia. Ul­rike, a na­tive Ger­man, ex­plains that it’s “for ex­cep­tional stu­dents who have the cu­rios­ity but lack the fi­nan­cial re­sources to study abroad.” Toufiq is cur­rently an ad­junct se­nior fel­low at the East-West Cen­ter and was a lead author for the In­ter­gov­ern­men­tal Panel on Cli­mate Change, which re­ceived the 2007 No­bel Peace Prize. Ul­rike is ac­tive in UH alumni ac­tiv­i­ties and Friends of the East-West Cen­ter, among many other in­ter­ests … Loke­lani Sarazen of Kuliouou seems happy about her pro­mo­tion to 1st lieu­tenant in the U.S. Army.
