Kupuna Care Classes At KCC

The Kupuna Ed­u­ca­tion Cen­ter at Ka­pi­olani Com­mu­nity Col­lege has an­nounced its sched­ule for the spring se­mes­ter, which of­fers classes be­gin­ning this month in elder/kupuna care­giver ed­u­ca­tion.

• An ori­en­ta­tion to Elder Stay@Home, Home Care Worker Train­ing Pro­gram is planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 12 in Kopiko 128. The free class will dis­cuss how to ap­ply for train­ing in home care for el­ders and em­ploy­ment in the field.

• Se­ries I: Hands-On Skills for Fam­ily Care­givers is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 18, 25 and Feb. 1 in Kopiko 242, in­tro­duc­ing stu­dents to hands-on skills in car­ing for el­derly par­ents, spouses or relatives at home. Fee is $15 for all three weeks.

• Se­ries II: What Fam­ily Care­givers Want and Need to Know is from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 19, 26 and Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23 in Kopiko 209. Care­givers will learn prac­ti­cal and help­ful ways to care for the el­derly and how to make de­ci­sions about pro­vid­ing care. Fee is $30 for all six weeks. To reg­is­ter, call 734-9211.
