Kupuna Care Classes At KCC
The Kupuna Education Center at Kapiolani Community College has announced its schedule for the spring semester, which offers classes beginning this month in elder/kupuna caregiver education.
• An orientation to Elder Stay@Home, Home Care Worker Training Program is planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 12 in Kopiko 128. The free class will discuss how to apply for training in home care for elders and employment in the field.
• Series I: Hands-On Skills for Family Caregivers is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 18, 25 and Feb. 1 in Kopiko 242, introducing students to hands-on skills in caring for elderly parents, spouses or relatives at home. Fee is $15 for all three weeks.
• Series II: What Family Caregivers Want and Need to Know is from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 19, 26 and Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23 in Kopiko 209. Caregivers will learn practical and helpful ways to care for the elderly and how to make decisions about providing care. Fee is $30 for all six weeks. To register, call 734-9211.
