Ul­ti­mate P.E. Test For Area Kids

Fifth-graders at all four Kaiser Com­plex el­e­men­tary schools get an ul­ti­mate P.E. test March 31 dur­ing their an­nual fit­ness meet at Kaiser High School.

From 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. that day, they all will be eval­u­ated against stan­dards de­vel­oped by Healthy Fit­ness Zone, which mea­sures per­sonal fit­ness rather than per­for­mance.

Par­ents will re­ceive a copy of their scores, called a Fit­ness­Gram.

Co­or­di­nated by Honolulu Dis­trict health and phys­i­cal ed­u­ca­tion re­source teacher Denise Dar­val-Chang and P.E. teach­ers at Ha­haione, Kamiloiki, Koko Head and Aina Haina el­e­men­tary schools, the meet will mea­sure heart and lung per­for­mance, up­per body strength via push-ups, ab­dom­i­nal strength via curl-ups, spine flex­i­bil­ity via trunk lifts, ham­string flex­i­bil­ity via si­tand-reach ex­er­cises, and body com­po­si­tion via body fat tests.
