Pearl City High grad­u­ate Robert Sugiyama has been named as­so­ciate gen­eral man­ager at Ward Vil­lage. He now is re­spon­si­ble for over­see­ing the op­er­a­tions, ac­counts and co­or­di­na­tion of the es­tab­lish­ment’s mul­ti­ple prop­er­ties. He also will help to carry out ac­count­ing, re­la­tion­ship build­ing and pro­gram de­vel­op­ment to en­hance cus­tomer ex­pe­ri­ence and ten­ant sales. He also spent time hon­ing his ex­per­tise in de­vel­op­ment and real es­tate over­seas in United King­dom and Ja­pan. Most re­cently, Sugiyama was ac­count man­ager for Col­liers In­ter­na­tional, over­see­ing the man­age­ment and leas­ing of nearly 50 prop­er­ties for Kame­hameha Schools.

Pearl City na­tive and Lo­gis­tic Spe­cial­ist Sea­man Sid­ney Sykes has been se­lected for the Blue Jacket of the Year award. Prior to his Blue Jacket recog­ni­tion for NAVSUP GLS ( Naval Sup­ply Sys­tems Com­mand Global Lo­gis­tics Support), Sykes was named Blue Jacket of the Quar­ter (fourth quar­ter) and 2014 Blue Jacket of the Year for NAVSUP FLC Bahrain. Vot­ing oc­curred dur­ing a NAVSUP lead­er­ship con­fer­ence held Nov. 20 in San Diego. “Hon­estly, the whole com­mand, this com­mand is very good about mak­ing sure we ju­nior Sailors are taken care of,” stated Sykes. “They help me to grow through phys­i­cal fit­ness, be­ing so­cial and be­ing com­fort­able with my­self.”

Tana Sa­muelu

has been named cruise man­ager for At­lantis Cruises. Sa­muelu is re­spon­si­ble for di­rect­ing all facets of At­lantis Cruises’ op­er­a­tions on­board its Na­vatek cruise ves­sel, with em­pha­sis given to the food ser­vice and en­ter­tain­ment and ed­u­ca­tion pro­gram that guests en­joy. Sa­muelu brings ex­ten­sive sea­wor­thy cus­tomer ser­vice ex­pe­ri­ence to At­lantis, high­lighted by the 16 years he pre­vi­ously served aboard the Na­vatek from 1990 to 2006 as a prod­uct man­ager (10 years) and cruise man­ager (six years). Prior to re­join­ing At­lantis, he worked as a sales man­ager for Wet ’n’ Wild Kapolei for the past eight years.

Ja­son Mor­ri­son has been pro­moted to vice pres­i­dent of fa­cil­i­ties and en­gi­neer­ing with USS Mis­souri Memo­rial As­so­ci­a­tion. He joined the as­so­ci­a­tion’s man­age­ment team as chief en­gi­neer in Novem­ber 2013, and has di­rected sev­eral key restora­tion projects to help pre­serve the bat­tle­ship in re­tire­ment, and also im­prove the vis­i­tor ex­pe­ri­ence for tours aboard the “Mighty Mo.” In his new po­si­tion, Mor­ri­son is re­spon­si­ble for the con­tin­ued over­sight of all main­te­nancere­lated projects for the Mis­souri and its 1,000- foot pier. He also is charged with man­ag­ing all as­pects of daily fa­cil­i­ties op­er­a­tions, in­clud­ing safety, and serves as the as­so­ci­a­tion’s en­vi­ron­men­tal of­fi­cer, en­sur­ing com­pli­ance with fed­eral and state laws.
