Schools Mark­ing 50, 60 Years

The Wind­ward side is show­ing its age as schools, li­braries and churches all cel­e­brate land­mark an­niver­saries this year.

Coming up in the next few weeks are at least three spe­cial par­ties mark­ing cam­pus his­tory.

• Ka­puna­hala Ele­men­tary School is 50 years old in March, and the cel­e­bra­tion will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. March 15 on the school field with a time cap­sule cer­e­mony, T-shirts, Hawai­ian plate din­ners ( pre- or­dered), mu­sic, en­ter­tain­ment and per­for­mances by the cur­rent stu­dents. • En­chanted Lake Ele­men­tary School marks its 50th year with a luau, pro­gram and en­ter­tain­ment from 4 to 7 p.m. March 16 in the court­yard and cafe­te­ria. Plans call for an alumni busi­ness card di­rec­tory, T-shirts, a com­mem­o­ra­tive cook­book ($ 10 pre- or­dered) and more. Luau tick­ets are lim­ited and cost $ 12 through March 1, $ 15 af­ter­ward. • St. An­thony School, which opened in 1952, has ed­u­cated more than 13,000 chil­dren in pre- school through grade 8, mak­ing it “the old­est pri­vate school in Kailua.” It will host a 60th An­niver­sary Gala and Silent Auc­tion, “Evening on the Bay,” April 13 at the Ka­neohe Marine base Of­fi­cers Club. Tick­ets cost $60 now or $70 at the door, and spon­sor­ships as well as silent auc­tion items are wel­come.
