Nature Conservancy Heads February Series
Emmanuel Episcopal Church continues its free public speakers series Thursday with staff from The Nature Conservancy, who will discuss “Healing an Ahupua‘a.”
The talk begins at 7 p.m. at the church, located at 780 Keolu Drive.
Ryan Carr, a member of the Kaneohe Bay “super sucker” team, and TNC’s senior communications manager Evelyn Wight will brief listeners on the group’s mission in Hawaii, particularly as it affects the Windward side and its vital watershed.
TNC is working with state and community partners to restore natural resources (such as the bay’s coral) and bring back traditional agriculture. The two so-called super suckers are underwater vacuums that the team employs to remove invasive species from the bay’s coral bed.
