Pro Bowler Hosts Golf Tourney For Wounded
The Pro Bowl may have been Jan. 26, but Jared Allen, a defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings and a five-time Pro Bowl pick, hopes to channel remaining football fever into, of all things, a golf tournament.
Allen will host the inaugural Helping Heroes Hawaii Golf & Gala at Turtle Bay Resort Feb. 20-22 to raise funds for his nonprofit Homes for Wounded Warriors, which seeks to provide handicap-accessible homes for wounded veterans. Proceeds from this event will likely support Hawaiibased veterans in need.
The fundraiser includes activities over three days, such as spa treatments, hiking, cocktail receptions and a foursome golf tournament. Local couples can expect to pay $4,000 for the threeday package (singles pay $2,000). A la carte tickets for the gala or golf tourney also can be purchased for $750 ($375 with military ID).
