Play Kick­ball To Help Abused Keiki

Kick­balls aren’t the only thing that P.A.R.E.N.T.S. Inc. hopes to send fly­ing. The or­ga­ni­za­tion’s cru­sade against child abuse and ne­glect continues with the third an­nual Kick­ball Tour­na­ment from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 5 on Ka­neohe District Park’s Phase II fields.

The dou­ble-elim­i­na­tion tour­na­ment is open to any­one over age 8 will­ing to put to­gether a team of eight to 15. En­try fee per team is $250 (if reg­is­tered by March 14), $300 (March 14-21) or $500 (March 22-29). Reg­is­tra­tion closes af­ter March 29. Cor­po­rate spon­sor­ships start­ing at $1,000 also are avail­able.

Also planned is a free keiki zone loaded with ac­tiv­i­ties, games and prizes. Face paint­ing, bal­loon mak­ing and re­lay races are on the agenda, along with mu­sic and door prizes.

The event is held in April in honor of Child Abuse Preven­tion Month. Pro­ceeds from the tour­ney ben­e­fit the Ka­neo­he­based non­profit’scoun­sel­ing, ed­u­ca­tion and sup­port ser­vices in Hawaii.
